Arsenal Handed Fresh Injury Blow
Arsenal’s defensive woes have intensified following confirmation that Cristian Mosquera is set for a significant spell on the sidelines. According to reports from the BBC and Sami Moqbel, the 21-year-old defender will be out of action for up to six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury during the Gunners' recent clash with Brentford.
The injury comes at a perilous time for Mikel Arteta. The Spanish centre-back, a recent arrival from Valencia, had stepped up to become a vital component of the starting XI, forming a budding partnership with Piero Hincapié. He had been covering for key absentees William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, both of whom remain unavailable.
With Mosquera not expected to return until mid-January, Arteta admitted the situation is "complex." The club now faces a difficult decision: rely on a depleted roster of inexperienced players during a busy festive schedule, or dip into the winter transfer market for emergency cover.
